Grant Writing and Fundraising Support Contractor (Part-Time)

Organization: Farm to Crag
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation: $48.00/hour, $2,080 monthly 

Role Overview

Farm to Crag is seeking a part-time contractor to support grant writing and early-stage fundraising efforts during a period of organizational growth. This role focuses on grant development and fundraising infrastructure, helping lay the groundwork for long-term donor success.

This position is well suited for someone who understands that effective fundraising requires collaboration with leadership and board members and is comfortable working within a clearly defined and realistic scope.

Primary Responsibilities

1- Grant Writing and Management

  • Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with Farm to Crag’s mission in regenerative agriculture, outdoor access, and climate resilience

  • Write and submit 1 to 2 competitive grant proposals per month

  • Maintain a grant calendar including deadlines, reporting requirements, and follow-up tasks

  • Collaborate with leadership to gather program descriptions, budgets, and impact metrics

  • Track submissions, outcomes, and reporting obligations

2- Fundraising and Donor Support

  • Help develop and refine Farm To Crag’s case for support for individual donors and partners

  • Support the creation of donor-facing materials, including:

    • email appeals

    • short fundraising campaigns

    • impact updates

    • thank-you and stewardship messaging

  • Assist in organizing and tracking donor prospects and fundraising activity

  • Support leadership and board members by preparing:

    • donor talking points

    • outreach templates

    • follow-up materials

  • Help identify potential individual, corporate, and community donor opportunities, with an emphasis on warm introductions

Required Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, or fundraising support

  • Strong writing and research skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within limited weekly hours

  • Clear communication and collaborative working style

  • Comfort working remotely with a small team

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience with regenerative agriculture, conservation, or outdoor-focused nonprofits

  • Familiarity with California and or Montana agriculture, conservation, or outdoor recreation landscapes

  • Existing relationships or networks within agriculture, outdoor, or environmental sectors in California and or Montana

  • Experience supporting early-stage or capacity-building fundraising efforts

    Success Indicators

  • A prioritized and realistic grant pipeline with consistent submissions

  • Clear and usable donor messaging and fundraising materials

  • Improved organization of donor and grant information

  • Leadership and board members are equipped with tools to engage donors effectively

  • Fundraising systems prepared to scale as organizational capacity grows

    Scope and Collaboration

This role supports Farm to Crag’s development efforts through grant writing and fundraising preparation. Fundraising success will be collaborative and shared with organizational leadership and the board. This position focuses on strategy support, systems, and execution within a part-time scope. This contractor will report to the Board Executive team, including the Board President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
